    Assistive Technology (JAWS) Training

JAWS Training teaches developers and QA engineers to use JAWS, an assistive technology screen reader commonly used by people who are blind or have low vision. Testing with JAWS enables your organization to identify usability barriers faced by people with disabilities when accessing your Information Technology (IT) systems. Public sector organizations frequently require IT systems to be accessible to the JAWS screen reader because it is the most widely used screen reader by people who are blind. During the procurement process, many public sector organizations also use JAWS to verify that accessibility requirements, such as Section 508, have been properly implemented. Custom scripts created for JAWS may enable your organization to increase the accessibility of your IT systems without changing underlying system code, saving money and reducing implementation time. The training covers:
    • Overview of accessibility requirements including Section 508, World Wide Web Consortium, Disability Discrimination Act, and other relevant country-specific standards.
    • How to use JAWS to test for accessibility errors.
    • Basic and advanced JAWS settings.
    • Writing and using JAWS scripts.
    • Instruction on performing effective testing with JAWS.
    • Review of other assistive technology devices used by people with disabilities.
Who Attends Assistive Technology (JAWS) Training?
JAWS Training is targeted towards developers and QA engineers seeking to simulate end-user testing of your organization's IT systems to ensure accessibility to people with disabilities.
